I turned 32 last Wednesday and thought there was no better way to kick off my new year than with starting this blog, in tandem with my new beauty instagram account @martinisandmascara. So welcome to my beauty world (:

For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Maggie. I’m a Chicago girl and makeup & beauty enthusiast. I took my first makeup class earlier this year to learn exactly what the hell I should be doing with all these products I’ve been buying and learned a LOT. The more I’ve learned, the more I’ve wanted to share. That’s what inspired this blog.

Consider me your beauty go-to girl. I try products, learn new tricks, keep up with the trends and report back. I’m always looking to meet other people with the same interests as me and talk beauty. I’m here to share my passion with you and I invite you to share your beauty experiences with me!

Once a month I will put out a post featuring what I’m loving in my beauty line up, as well as other fun things along the way.

What is this bit about martinis? Glad you asked. Over the years a dirty gin martini has become my signature cocktail. Expect some martini reviews from time to time or me getting ready with a cocktail.

Current Favs:

Confessions of a shopaholic..

I recently posted on my instagram and pinterest my Saturday night birthday look (shown above) which features 3 of my makeup must haves. Everything is linked in the name of the product!

  • The Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in Universal. Literally don’t know how I ever lived without this palette. With four shades for bronzer, contour, highlighter and blush you everything you need for a snatched look. $48 at Sephora.
  • MACtack Mascara from MAC. I usually try a new mascara whenever I run out and this is the first time I have continuously bought the same one. It doesn’t flake or clump, and it is SUPER volumizing. I don’t like to wear fake eyelashes and with this mascara I don’t need to. $28 at MAC.
  • Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in Rouge Pigalle. I accidentally got this lipstick. My fiance had a gift card to Saks and ended up having no use for it. Well, what do you get for $50 at Saks? Makeup. I love, love, love this red lipstick (I like blue reds and this is a great shade). It lasts all night long. It’s $35 on Lancome’s website (or other department stores). Pairing it with Ruby Roo lip liner from MAC.

A couple other fun facts about me to wrap it up:

I’m getting married on May 18th (almost a month away!), I have two cats (total cat mom), and I used to be a personal trainer so I love being active in the fitness/wellness community. I’m a social butterfly and can’t wait to meet you; let’s connect!
