How I’m prepping & what my beauty routine is for my wedding week week…

That moment during the weekend where you have the thought: “holy shit, I’m getting married in a week!”
My fiance and I did a final “pre-wedding” date night last Friday and while the martini was excellent, the service was not. I did however, love the decor and this floral wallpaper, which totally fit my May Mood Board.
We are getting married on Saturday and then heading straight to France for our honeymoon! It’s so crazy it’s already here. These past 15 months have been a whirlwind of planning and of course, beauty prep. I’ve been pretty intense about my skincare routine since getting engaged. The wedding was a great motivator but I’m excited to keep it up after the big day.
My Skincare Prep & Timeline:
The first few months of our engagement I mostly stuck to regular facials about every month. I started mixing in hydrafacials and LED light therapy around 5-6 months out. I needed to be a little mindful of budget and I think every person who’s getting married knows how fast costs add up (yikes!).
Most of the work I put into my skin was done at home. I have been super strict with my skincare routine twice a day. This includes using a cleanser, an exfoliant every other day, vitamin C eye cream, two serums (vitamin C and hyaluronic acid), moisturizer, retinol at night (on the opposite days I use the exfoliant), and a sleeping mask. My favorite mask is the Laneige Bouncy + Firm Radiance Boosting Sleeping Mask. I’m going to link some of my other favs at the end of this post!
2 months out from the wedding I did 2 rounds of microneedling, which was my biggest skincare investment. I did 2 rounds about 4 weeks a part (which I highly recommend for brides and non-brides alike). The microneedling helps to produce more collagen and helps improve the skin’s texture. I swear to god it’s not painful (lol- this was my biggest fear). I would recommend where ever you go to go somewhere where they do the SkinPen experience. The soothing mask at the end helps to reduce redness and gives you a faster recovery. I have a side by side of my skin below; first picture is right after and the second pic is 10 days after:

This week, I am doing a hydrafacial 2 days before the wedding. The hydrafacial removes dead skin cells and infuses the skin with serums, allowing you to look refreshed for a big event (like a wedding).
I have also been doing dermaplaning with all my facials, which is probably my favorite thing ever. If you’re getting married, it’s a must for helping your makeup go on smoothly.
If you’re local to Chicago my favorite spots for skincare are SpaDerma and Face Foundrie.

Make-up Updates:
I have not even thought about what make-up I will be bringing to France. I did do a final Sephora run to grab a couple mini items (because who doesn’t love minis!?) and some new concealer. I wanted a more light weight concealer for summer and ended up with Merit’s The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation and Concealer Stick in Linen. I had been using Anastasia’s Magic Touch concealer which I love but it comes on very thick. Too heavy for summer.
My other snags:
Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder Post Workout Dry Shampoo Mist. I hate traveling with a full thing of dry shampoo and have wanted to try this. As someone who works out and sweats a lot I am excited to see how it works!
JVN Complete Leave-In Conditioning Mist. I was running low on my current detangler and I love JVN’s hair products, so wanted to try this. It’s also a smaller bottle, perfect for traveling!
Lastly, I got my second Ipsy box today! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play too much with it before I go but I am super excited to try the Anastasia Contour and Highlight stick and the huge eye palette from Ciate London. I will do a review of everything when I am back from France!
I am excited to share some of my wedding looks/pictures with you and my beauty adventures in France. My bride inspo is very Old Hollywood. I LOVED my makeup trial with Glam Atelier in Chicago and I am excited to see the final look! The rest of my beauty check list this week consists of nails, fresh hair cut/color, and making sure I am staying super hydrated. My bridal beauty essential item right now (outside of A+ skincare) is a perfect red lip. I have tagged my fav brands in a previous entry.
Time to Get Packing!
If you’re going to France on your honeymoon, what are you bringing? And probably a slightly more important question (lol), what are your bridal beauty essentials?
