So, I guess last week was the final week of strawberry season, per someone working at the Lincoln Park Farmer’s Market last week. However, there is a Strawberry Full Moon on the 21st and I am seeing some cool “berry” makeup trends on social media. Actual berries might be out of season but this trend is in full swing! I wanted to follow up on the theme with some berry makeup ideas for summer!
First things first, do not ask me about the Strawberry Full Moon – I know nothing about it (not an astrologer, come to me for beauty). I know of it because my bestie IS an astrologer and was the one who first introduced me to the strawberry theme. It’s all very fitting considering my color themes for the month were pinks and reds!
Berry Blush:
As if I don’t have enough blush, I caved and bought the new Color Fuse Longwear Hydrating Glassy Lip + Cheek Blush Balm Stick from Haus Labs last week, linked here. I am now seeing some people play around with wearing multiple colors, which is a great excuse for me to buy more! I wasn’t planning on falling in love with the ruby Glassy Watermelon color, but of all the colors I tried on it was definitely my fav! This is the PERFECT product for the berry makeup look.

I think to play off this trend doing the “sunburnt” blush look is perfect. If you don’t know which blush look that is (understandable because there are a million blush trends right now), you’re basically putting blush where you would naturally burn to give yourself a more flushed look. I would aim for high on the apples of your cheek bones and on the bridge of your nose.
For eyes, we want to play into the reds and pinks as well. I am currently using the “I Am Woman” palette I got in my May Ipsy box from Ciate London. If you’re an Ipsy member it’s easy to get through their store or there are different variations you can get on Amazon. I am linking it here, it’s a 24 color palette so it can be a bit over whelming if you’re an eye shadow newbie.

Eye Shadow Tips:
Here’s a fun eyeshadow look: Use the lightest color in your palette as the base. Then, pick three colors in the same color family (for the berry look choose reds or pinks). Start with the darkest color on the farthest outside corner of your eye, then blend in a medium color over the darker color and extend to the halfway point of the eyelid. Then, do the same thing with the lightest color and go a little further into the eye lid. The last quarter of your eye should remain at the base color.
Face & Lips:
To round out the berry makeup look I’m doing minimal bronzer (just contour) and a little highlighter under the eyes, jaw line and nose. I currently love the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight from Rare Beauty, linked here. A few of the shades already have a rose tint to them. I’m using the shade Transcend, which is a beautiful rose gold tone.
For lips, instead of going bold and predictable with a red lip, I’m playing with a softer pink for summer. I just got the Long-Lasting Velvety-Matte Lip Liner from Anastasia Beverly Hills in peach amber, linked here, and I’m pairing that with Maybelline’s Lifter Gloss in Bubblegum, linked here. Honestly, one of my fav lip glosses, I have it in multiple colors. These two colors together make the perfect sunset lips, a fun play on the sunset blush trend.

How to choose the right shade:
Different colors look different on different skin tones. For darker skin tones, red tones really pop. Lighter skin tones pair great with lighter shades of pink or peach. However, for this trend, there are no rules. I think one thing that’s awesome about makeup right now is that people are experimenting with various shades and aren’t afraid to be bold with their color choices. A couple years ago, I would have never bought a red blush, I would have thought I looked like a legit clown! But now, I’m learning that any color can work when it’s paired with the right lip and face products (meaning, don’t do a bold cheek, eye and lip all together; that’s a lot going on at once). Plus, this is a berry theme! That means bold pinks and reds!
So what do you think? Berry makeup summer, yes please! Will for sure be rocking this look to my friend’s astro opening tomorrow! I’m all for the fun, sunkissed makeup trends for summer. Share your own thoughts or ideas on this hot summer trend with me! Is this your fav summer trend so far?
