Happy August 1st! I cannot believe we are already in August. For Chicago, this is like the bittersweet end of summer. Because we are in Leo season, I feel like we are in the thick of bright fiery colors: red, orange and yellow. Maybe it’s also because of the launch of Sabrina Carpenter’s new cherry perfume, and now I am obsessed with all things cherry and bright…Lucky for you all I have so many bright makeup colors and items on the docket to celebrate this summer season of fire!
Hot, Hot, Hot

I have a fully loaded wish list at Sephora (again). Do I need more makeup? No. But there are so many new products that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Everything is linked in the list:
- Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick: I need more blush like a need a hole in my head. I ended up getting two different blushes in July and this was one of them. I love this beautiful coral color for August. All of these blush colors have amazing pigment and perfect texture. I wanted a more orange-y tone for August but all of the colors are incredible. PLUS they come with a blush brush attached to it that helps to blend. This is a blush must have for me.
- Rhode Pocket Blush: The other blush I bought last month (: These viral blushes have been all over social media and they do not disappoint. I could have bought every color but went with the shade “Juice Box,” which is a bright pink shade (mostly because I needed a new pink blush). This color/blush stick is perfect for mastering the boyfriend or sun burnt blush trend and leaves you looking the perfect summer flush.
- Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Stix High-Shine Gloss Stick: Fenty just released these super pigmented lip glosses and I am so excited about them. Eyeing the blue red shade, “The MVP” for this month but also want to stock up on a couple of the nude tones. These glosses also have Vitamin E and shea butter for extra moisture. Additionally, Fenty released new lip liners that pair great with the gloss. For August I plan on pairing a brown liner with a red lip for a brighter blurred lip effect.
- Armani Beauty Eye-Tint Long Lasting Liquid Shadow: This is definitely my splurge beauty buy for August. I don’t normally like liquid eyeshadow but I saw this product on the gram and it looked stunning. The cold copper shade has a my eye because of the subtle shimmer.
- My last makeup item? Yellow eyeliner. Honestly doesn’t matter the brand, it’s just fun. My yellow eyeliner is from Color Pop Cosmetics and I love it. I have had so much fun playing around with how to layer it and putting it on different parts of the lid. It brightens the eye and makes for a creative, festival look.

These gloss bombs from Fenty are super hot right now.
Hair Trends for the End of Summer
I don’t consider myself a hair expert but I love to play around with my color and style. Copper hair is on the rise and I’m feeling inspired for a color change. I’ve been a red head before (actually twice) but the copper trends I’m seeing are a bit more subtle and fresh. Take a look at Hailey Bieber, Phoebe Dynevor and Zendaya for some inspo. I will keep you posted on how it turns out.
The slicked back hair look has been an on going trend all summer. It has be crucial for these super hot summer months. I currently am using the Tancho Stick (it’s a wax stick) to slick my hair and get rid of flyaways; along with a small comb and taming wand. Dae’s Cactus Styling cream is also a great product and they started selling a smaller bottle with a wand. It’s been out of stock at Sephora but I want to grab it the next time it’s in stock. Are you a hair up or hair down person in the summer?

Sydney killed the copper hair game last year.
Ice Cream, You Scream…
I know I always close these mood board posts with a cocktail but my summer drink of choice is still a martini or an occasional spritz (shout out Mixly for their new spritz mixes, the cherry one is AMAZING). We have been enjoying these hot summer months with some cold sweet treats. Chicago is not short of amazing ice cream shops and desserts. Our fav is still the ice cream tacos at Parlor Pizza Bar. What’s your ice cream treat of choice to celebrate the rest of summer?

The ultimate ice cream treat.
