My September beauty picks and first look at Fall trends.

September mood board

How is it already September!? Summer flew by. I am a summer girl so I am sad it’s ending. However, there is a lot to look forward to for fall including some cool new beauty trends that we get to embrace! I am also excited for all the fall activities like apple picking and having an Octoberfest beer. My husband is a big football guy so there will definitely be a lot of Sundays getting cozy in front of the TV in our future.

Fall’s beauty trends are somewhat of a continuation of summer with some twists. Tik Tok is all over the trends already and some of them I very excited to play around with. One thing I already embraced is the copper hair trend (I know I mentioned I was going to do this in my August post). I love it so much that I think I am going to continue to add some red as fall continues. Something to note about red tones is that they fade a lot faster. I stocked up on some tinted deep conditioning treatments to keep the red vibrant and I am pleasantly surprised on how well they work. My favorite is the dpHUE Gloss+ in Copper, linking here. These conditioners are temporary so you have to use it periodically to keep the color up.

Now, grab your fav Fall drink and let’s talk fall beauty!

Blurred Lips

This trend has been all over Tik Tok and I really like it. I have never been a huge lined lip gal and this trend is for those of you that are in the same boat. Blurred lips provide a softer look and it works with vibrant and more neutral colors. You can go about it a couple different ways but I like using a lip brush to apply the lip color first in the center of the lip, and then smudge the color with your finger to the rest of your lip. From there, you can apply a little more color with the actual stick if you want. I have seen people use liner on top of the lip color but you don’t need to. Lastly, apply some loose setting powder to really blur it out.

My favorite lip product right now is the Gloss Bomb Stix from Fenty. The color and shine together is amazing. I got The MVP (the red shade) and Fenty Glow (rose tan). I really want more shades for fall! For a more neutral, natural look I always use Charlotte Tilburry’s Pillow Talk in Medium.

Smoked Out Eyes

Smokey eyes and smoked out eye liner is back for fall. We are really embracing the return of the 90s looks with this one. The smoked eye liner technique is still something I’m trying to master. Every time I attempt it I feel like I look like a straight up raccoon (I guess that might be the point). Be ready to do a lot of layering over eye liner and using a small brush to “smoke” it out. For black eye liner I really like M.A.C.’s Colour Excess Gel Eyeliner in Glide or Die. This month I want to go to the new Jones Road Beauty store in Chicago to get some smokey eye shadows. Their Just A Sec Eye Shadow in Pewter is a really cool looking grey tone to add some smokey dimension to the eyes.

Are you a smokey eye fan? I like it but not for every day. I am excited to play more around with this look for a fun night out. Here is a tutorial video I found helpful for the eyeliner:

Feathery Brows

I feel like feathery brows never go out of style. The no-makeup makeup look was big for summer and it’s carrying through into fall. Part of what makes this look is natural looking, feathery brows. Remember when we all wanted thin brows in the 90s? We’ve come a lot way!

I’m a huge brow pomade girl. I think it gives a more full and natural look than a pencil. I swear by Anastasia’s DIPBROW Pomade and clear brow gel. With a brow brush, lightly blend the pomade into your brows. I like to make feathery, light strokes for a softer look. You don’t want to go too harsh with the pomade or you will literally have Groucho Marx brows (LOL – if you don’t know who that is please Google).

Wait…no mascara?

Has everyone else heard about this trend? As someone who will literally wear nothing but mascara I don’t know how I feel about it. I’m all for long, full lashes. Going all out on makeup and then doing nothing for the lashes is not typically my jam, but I am going to give it a go. What are your thoughts on going mascara free?

And we can’t forget…

Blush, blush, blush. Blush is still trending, as is having a flushed face. I’m ready to play with some different shades for fall. I love the Rhode Pocket Blushes and want to try the shade Toasted Teddy (a bronze terracotta) for some warm, fall looks.

Thank you for joining me on my fall beauty journey! What trends are you most excited for? Any trends you will pass on? I plan on reporting back on my trend takeaways and what new products that come my way. Happy September!
