Plus some skincare tips!

Happy (almost) Valentine’s day! I know this makes me sound like total basic bitch but I absolutely love this day. As a huge fan of rom coms this is probably not that shocking. I also got engaged two days before Valentine’s day two years ago, so that definitely makes this time of year extra special.
I wanted to share some of my Vday must haves along with some updates about my skincare journey for the start of the year. I don’t know if you noticed but you can now make collages on Pinterest, so I have made some very festive Valentine’s day mood boards depending on what your color vibe is. Come play along with me for one of my favorite holidays!

Crazy for Chemical Peels:
First, my skincare update. At the start of the year I invested in some new skincare treatments: PCA chemical peels, PRX treatment and PRP for my under eyes. So far I have done the first 2 of 3 peels and it has been a great experience. For those of you in the Chicago area I have been going to SpaDerma and I love them (I also did my microneedling there before my wedding). When you go for the first time you do a special consultation to evaluate your skin. For some reason they didn’t do this before my microneedling and I have always been told by aestheticians that I have very dry skin. At SpaDerma a few weeks ago I learned I actually have oily skin! This was a 360 for me and I have had to make some changes in my routine. It has taught me to definitely get your skin properly looked at!
In my March post I want to dive further into the products I am switching to. For starters, I am using more of a foaming cleanser and a lighter, gel based moisturizer. I am still incorporating Vitamin C (but a slightly different dosage because I also learned I have rosacea) and a hydrating serum. I added in niacinamide to target oil control and rosacea too!
The peels I have been doing are lighter peels to target redness. My flaking has been very minimal and overall I have seen a difference in my redness even after two peels! For my last peel, we are going to do a slightly deeper peel to target some texture concerns.
What skincare treatments and skincare discoveries have you done so far in 2025?! Excited to hear about other people’s skincare journeys!
Be Mine Valentine:
Whether you love Valentine’s day or not hopefully you will fall for some of my makeup picks and themes…

Think Pink:
My fav color ❤ A pink theme is so fun for Vday and there is obviously a lot you can do with this color whether it’s date night or gal’s night! Think bright pink blushes, pink lips, and fun nails. I also love playing with some rose colored eye shadows!
- Rare Beauty has done it again with a new blush! It sold out pretty quickly but I will be getting my hands on it once it comes back in stock. The Soft Pinch Matte Bouncy Blush comes in seven colors including two cute pink shades: Happy and Thriving. It is a cream formula that is new for Rare Beauty! I also love her Soft Pinch Liquid Blush and Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick. Her pink shades are so beautiful and vibrant. I love the lipstick in shade Heroic, which comes out as a deep, berry pink. Perfect for a winter Valentine’s day date!
- The blurred lip trend is currently viral on socials and the soft lip look is so romantic and perfect for Valentine’s day. Try a liner from Refy, Rhode or Ilia that is a softer pencil and more muted color. Then, fill with a lip oil or gloss. I love the Benefit Cosmetics Benetint Liquid Lip + Cheek Blush Stain. Pairing a pink or soft red with a brown pencil is such a pretty, soft look that will be perfect for your pink palette!
- I have seen some crazy V-day inspired eye makeup (think bright pink eyeliner and hearts in the outer corners of the eyes). While that’s cute and fun it isn’t totally my vibe and is a little too advanced for some people (like me lol). I love a rose gold eyeshadow for Valentine’s day. One of my fav palette’s is the Naked3 Mini Soft Pink Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay. These colors are soft and more on the neutral side – which is great if you are going for more of a bold lip. I use this palette a lot as it’s great for everyday makeup!

Warming up with Reds:
What’s Vday without red lips or…red blush? The color of love has been a blush must have for me. I also want to call out some other warm, brown tones for contour and bronzer.
- I have talked about my favorite bold, red lipsticks a few times on my blog: The Gloss Bomb Stix from Fenty Beauty and the L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick from Lancôme. Both of these lipsticks are long lasting and provide a stunning, vibrant red. I also wanted to shout out the Cream Lip Stain from Sephora’s collection. I wore this lipstick at my wedding and it stayed on ALL NIGHT. The red shade I like is Always Red.
- For a softer red, I love Kosas Weightless Lip Color Nourishing Satin Lipstick in Deep Talks which is a more neutral, brick red. It pairs super well with their Wet Lip Oil Plumping Peptide Lip Treatment Gloss in either Unbuttoned for a warm, brown tone, or in Jaws for more red.
- Red blush has been trending for awhile. My go-to is Haus Labs Color Fuse Longwear Hydrating Glassy Lip + Cheek Blush Balm Stick in shade Glassy Watermelon. It blends beautifully into the skin and has a lot of high quality ingredients to help with hydration, redness, and skin radiance. I am also a huge fan of Patrick Ta’s Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo. They recently came out with a gorgeous red shade, She Left Me On Red. If you want to stay in the red tones but are looking for something a little warmer and less severe I would go with a bronzer, teracotta shade. Patrick Ta’s She Knows Who She Is is another new shade and a great option, as is Rhode’s Pocket Blush in Toasted Teddy. With shades like these you almost don’t need a bronzer!
- Speaking of bronzer and contour…I have yet to try the new Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Contour but I have loved what I am seeing on socials. Currently for contour I love the contour stick from Anastasia Beverly Hills (which they actually might be no longer making – oh no!) and the contour products from Make Up Forever and Makeup by Mario. Make Up Forever has an amazing face palette that is great for building your own contour shades.
- My current fav bronzers to warm up the face are from Dior, Saie and Haus Labs. Saie makes a great liquid bronzer in a variety of warm tones. I have been using the shade Swim which is a little darker than what I would normally go for but the added warmth is great. Dior and Haus Labs make great powder bronzers. I love the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette. My Haus Labs powder bronzer is running low and it seems like she is no longer making it! Please come back! I am obsessed with the pigment of that bronzer.
Black Cherries for Dessert:

My last Valentine’s day color inspo is black cherry (and purple of course). Looping these colors together. Who doesn’t love a fun purple lip? Lilac blushes have been trending as have purple setting powders, and eye shadow! Here are some products I’m loving:
- Fenty has a variety of purple lip colors. They just released a light purple Gloss Bomb Stix and their Riri shade is perfect for a black cherry lip. I also love their Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Cream in Mauve Wive$. Other purple lip choices include Glossier’s Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve in Black Cherry and Anastasia Beverly Hills Long-Wearing Matte & Satin Velvet Lipstick in Rum Punch.
- Purple eye liner and lip liner is back ya’ll. I feel like it’s bringing some 90s vibes which I kind of love. Look at Kosas Soulgazer Intensifying Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in either Mesmerize or Bewitched for some fun eye liner. Rare Beauty has a pretty plum lip liner linked here.
- I love Natasha Denona eye shadow palette’s and her Roxa Eyeshadow Palette has some serious purple shades going on. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Eyeshadow is also a great option if you just want a single color. Check out Free Bird and Set List for some fun purple hues.
- I am a huge fan of purple and berry blush tones. I have a powder blush from Dior which is subtle but not great if you are going for a bolder look. Huda Beauty’s Blush Filter Soft Glow Liquid Blush in Ube Cream is a stunning light purple color. For a black cherry shade, I like Huda Beauty’s same blush in black cherry as well as a couple other brands I already covered: Patrick Ta, Rare Beauty and Haus Labs. Depending on the purple/black cherry hues that work for your skin, all of these brands are great. For oily skin, powders work nicely but otherwise I tend to prefer liquid and cream blushes.
Be Mine.
What’s your Valentine’s day vibe? Pink, red or black cherry? Any of these colors are great for a fun date night, or a Galentine’s day party. Elevate your color theme by pairing it with a fun matching outfit! Whatever you are doing, I hope you have a fun plan with loved ones along with some cocktails or mocktails! My husband and I are doing dinner on Friday and it sounds like he has some fun things planned for Saturday as well (:
Another important question, do you prefer chocolate or flowers? Or both…
